Exploiting the Internet for Entrepreneurs

Starting a small business requires the entrepreneur, who was previously a specialist, or departmental head, to transform into a business manager.

Suddenly the responsibilities explode. Simply getting the allocated tasks completed isn't enough. The new owner/manager is now responsible for strategy, planning, execution, customer satisfaction and return on investment.

How are they trained to take on this infinitely more complex set of challenges?

Thanks Daniel

seems that's you and everybody else :-)

I asked the same question on Linked In and got the same answer from everybody - no training, we're learning it as we're doing it.

In my case it was a series of government-funded workshops which touched on most aspects of business management, but not in any great detail.

The training came with the job I suppose - the more I worked, the more management work there was to do. Nothing formal really. Looking back I probably should've done a business studies qualification at some point, but then I never thought I'd be running my own business...
